Since the buyout of Twitter by Elon Musk this year, the world has been waiting for him to be transparent about the inner workings of a company that, since the onset of COVID-19 followed by the 2020 election, took extraordinary steps to squash and silence particular speech in the public square. With input and analysis from an independent journalists like Matt Taibbi and Bari Weiss, Musk answered with the serial release of something called #TwitterFiles.
Initially focusing on political speech interference and evidence of ‘account shadow banning’ or what they renamed ‘visibility impact adjustment,’ on Sunday morning, Musk Tweeted out: My pronouns are Prosecute/Fauci. A shot across the bow of two sacrosanct ‘woke’ ideologies: that gender is malleable, and Fauci is a selfless saint; in six words, the world’s richest and seemingly most independent person foreshadowed the things to come in #TwitterFiles.
Evidently, Jay Bhattacharya ( Stanford MD, Ph.D. and Economist/Epidemiologist) spent an afternoon over the preceding weekend reviewing the available evidence of his own shadow banning but also the active censoring of differing views on the response to COVID-19.
